Volunteers Wanted!!

We're looking for enthusiastic and creative volunteers to join us as we launch Hoodstone Press, Glasgow's new independent publishing house. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of building something from the beginning, gaining hands-on experience across the publishing process and helping us discover, develop and share new voices.

We have two volunteer positions available for you to get your hands on. Be the first to get on board from the start and join our wonderful team. Ideally we are looking for 2 volunteers (one per job advert) but with the right candidates we are open to expanding as we grow Hoodstone Press.

Hoodstone Press, a new independent Scottish publisher based in Glasgow, is seeking a 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 to help promote our authors and books.

This role offers practical experience in:

📱 Social media management

📚 Book marketing and promotion

🎉 Literary events and book launches

🤝🏻 Supporting the growth of an exciting new Scottish publisher

We're looking for someone who:

📈 Has established competence and creativity across the main social media platforms

📕 Wants to build a career in publishing:

⏱️Can volunteer 4–6 hours per week (or more if preferred)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Preference will be given to applicants based in Glasgow or the West of Scotland.

Are you passionate about books and determined to build a career in publishing?

Hoodstone Press, a new independent Scottish publisher based in Glasgow, is looking to appoint a 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭.

This role offers valuable, hands-on experience across the editorial side of publishing, including editing, proofreading, copyediting, author support, and other key publishing tasks.

We're looking for someone who:

📖 Has some proven editorial experience

✍🏻 Is committed to developing a career in publishing

⏰ Can volunteer 4–6 hours per week (or more if preferred)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Preference will be given to applicants based in Glasgow or the West of Scotland.
