Mary McCabe has published dozens of short stories and poems in Scots, English and Gaelic, in anthologies and literary journals, as well as featured articles for newspapers.

Her longer works include two novels Everwinding Times and Two Closes and a Referendum as well as an illustrated book Street Schemes and Stages about cultural projects.

Her fictionalised account of scandals in her own family tree, Stirring the Dust, written in English, Doric and Glaswegian, was Paperback of the Week in The Herald when first published.

In German translation she has published a children’s book Die Zauberhafte Reise and her Radio plays have been broadcast on mainstream radio in Germany and Switzerland.

She is active in the writers political organisation International PEN, and in Pensioners for Independence. A political campaigner since her school days, she has decades of experience in Door to Door canvassing, attending demonstrations in Scotland and abroad, and proposing progressive change.

Retired from her job as Researcher/Editor with Glasgow City Council, she now devotes more time to writing and campaigning.
